Outlook 2010

In the summer of 2009, Netstal reached the bottom of the ongoing economic crisis that had started in the middle of 2008. From this point, thanks to a few large orders from the packaging and medical sectors, the order situation improved significantly. However, we assume that the world economy will take a long time to recover and are not expecting a rapid increase in global demand. In this volatile market environment, sound, level-headed business decisions are more important than ever.

In 2010, as in previous years, Netstal will once again be devoting considerable resources to strengthening its competitiveness and future security. In addition to growth initiatives in existing markets and the development of new markets, such measures will encompass the additional expansion of machines and production systems in the five defined user industries. Netstal will use the leading trade fair K in October 2010 in Düsseldorf as platform. We will present various new products and innovations to the specialist public and so demonstrate our technology leadership in our industry.

A key issue in 2010 remains the maintenance of Netstal Group profitability. Projects to improve productivity, reduce processing times and lower costs are aimed at ensuring Netstal’s ongoing competitiveness. With all these measures, Netstal will be well equipped to participate in the forthcoming economic upturn and will go forward with a renewed vigour.

Personnel
As at 30 September 2000, the Netstal Group employed 706 staff worldwide. Moreover, in the last financial year, the high level of professional competence of the workforce has been further improved in all areas by means of targeted training and ongoing staff training initiatives. As at 30 September 2000, 50 trainees were employed as apprentices at the Näfels plant and 11 apprentices had successfully completed their vocational training by the middle of 2009.

A thank you to our employees
In 2009, 56 employees of Netstal-Maschinen AG celebrated 10, 20, 25, 30 and 40 years of dedicated service to the company. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you, and all our other employees, for your achievements and commitment in a difficult time. We would also like to extend our particular thanks to our employee representatives for their helpful and constructive cooperation in combating the financial crisis.

In 2010 Netstal will make considerable investments in improving competitiveness and future security.
